Just because you can't find Magic Bites in the store does not mean it's out of print. It just means it's temporarily sold out.
Special thanks to the big fan who has posted speculation of Magic Bites being out of print and series being canceled due to "poor sales" to his book club email list and prompted 8 emails demanding to know if they should write angry letters to my publisher.
Please do not write angry letters to Ace.
Series not canceled. In fact, I have bugged my agent for Booskcan numbers and Magic Burns has sold over a quarter of its print run as of last Wednesday. Sales are very, very good.
Magic Bites still in print.
UPDATE: My lovely editor just informed me that Ace has 3,000 copies in their warehouse, so it is definitely not out of print. If you are unable to find a copy, please ask your local bookseller to order one for you.

Whyever would someone think that the book is out of print simply because they can't find it in stores? MAGIC BURNS released less than a months ago (BTW, I just finished reading it -- AWESOME job, guys!); at least in my local bookstores, it was out on an urban fantasy display with books by Caitlin Kiernan and Karen Chance. Most bookstores don't keep a lot of "backlist" books in stock, as anybody who's tried to find an earlier book in a long series knows, and I'm sure there were a lot of people that saw MAGIC BURNS and went to get the first, too.
It would've taken the fan all of... mmm, five minutes? at the bookstore to ask the help desk clerk when the book would be available, vs. running to Teh Intarwebs and starting rumors.
Oh, right. I forget. The Potential for Drama > Common Sense. /sarcasm
Unfortunately I truly abhor drama, unless it's in a book.
As do I. Unfortunately, the universe seems fit to plop buttloads of it in my lap. :P
People sometimes just aren't smart.
I haven't much patience for the stupid. :P
Which reminds me, the truly smart shopper will find the person in the store who is a fan of their favorite genre and ask for recommendations. I had one of my regulars ask me for "something new" t'other day, and remembering he likes urban fantasy, I put the last copies we had in stock of both "Burns" and "Bites" in his hands. He ended up buying both and a couple other titles I'd recommended to him last time he'd been in. So worry not (or at least worry less), your fervent bookseller fans are out here doing our best for you!
However, (and I don't know this specific situation) the reality is that I have started many series only to find the first book in the sequence out of print. Sadly, this is a fact for others.
Congrats on the numbers and I hope they keep climbing!
However, I AM glad that your book sales are going so well, Ilona. ^_^ the better the sales the more your publishers will want more books- which is what the fans REALLY want.
Book two was fabu- possibly better than the first one! Congrats.
