My morning

Gothic Glamor Bunny, evil bunny, fallen angel bunny, Birthday Bunny, lion-front, Horned Bunny, Water Demon Bunny, Lion, Urban wizard bunny
"The wheel stuck on some random rock. The acrid stench rising from the carcass would make an undead vomit. She'd thought she would be used to it by now, but no, after a third of a mile, she still smelled the dead bugger. Rose cursed at the wheelbarrow, gritted her teeth, and forced it through the trellis shrouded in tiny pink roses into grandmother's yard. She pushed it back behind the house, out of sight, and threw a tarp over it just in case.

Grandma Éléonore was in the kitchen, drinking tea. "I heard you lost your job," she said the second Rose stepped into the kitchen.

Why me?

"And I hear you have a fellow staying with you. According to Marlene, who heard it from Geraldine Asper, who heard it directly from Elsie Moore, he is some sort of looker."

Poor Rose. Hee.

I really need to finish this bugger. The Hellhounds thing is due July 1, so I've got a month and a half to nuke Rose or else. I've been putting about 3K on it every day for the past week or so, but I'm concerned it doesn't have the same forward flow as the Kate books. My crap tends to accelerate toward the end, but the romantic element in this on is purposefully pronounced* and it steals screen time from the main plot.

I need to sell this series. Oy.

Still sore about having alpha men shut down.

I'm sure it's not as bad as you think. Every time you think it's bad... it's awesome! So you must be doing well!! :p

I have faith in you. You can always trim back and from your other comments it sounds like you do...? On the romance, personally I like the guy and hope he keeps his badass snarky attitude and that Rose loves him for it.

::big shiney eyes of anime-like doe-ness:: I have faith in you! also I fully believe you can sustain the romance and make it worth reading--I was constantly biting my lip thinking 'omg Kate has ANOTHER boyfriend? jeez! she's like a pimp mama!' throughout Magic Burns. I must say I was highly envious of her.

Magic Burns
Wow! Magic, mystery and mayhem with a huge dollop of wry humor. A heroine you'd like to meet face to face and villains you wouldn't want in your worse nightmare. An incredible sequel to Magic Bites. Make plans for an all-nighter because you won't want to put this book down. Can't wait for the next book. Thank, Ilona Andrews, for giving me something to look forward to.

As someone who has read both Magic Bites and Magic Burns and think your world-building and story arcs are phenomenal in both strength and quality, I'm sure the plot/world of your Rose project will not suffer in the least despite your need to emphasize the romantic element. Go for it! I think you're a perfect candidate for a cross-over romance market! =)
